Marksmen win on league return
Hampshire League
Four Marks 1 - 0 Fair Oak
After an absence of eight years Marks are back in the Hampshire League. They made a comfortable start and with several new signings and a crop of youngsters now at their disposal, the future looks bright for them.
Dan Lucas had a goal disallowed after 20 minutes, while Bridge hit the woodwork twice within a five minute spell shortly before the interval.
The Marks defence looks much more solid than last year and this resulted in Bone, the goal keeper, only having to make one save in the first half.
The second half saw Marks play some good football and theu got their just reward near the hour mark when new boy and man-of-the-match Gary Chapman burst through from midfield to shoot past the advancing Fair Oaks 'keeper.
Chapman nearly made it 2-0 a few minutes later but this time he shot straight at the keeper.
This was a good team performance and with about eight players still out there will be plenty of confidence for places in both the first team and the reserves.
