With Michelmarsh & Timsbury looking for points to get them out of the bottom four, this was going to be a hard fought game for Hampshire League leaders Four Marks.
Marks started the brighter and took control of the game creating more of the chances; Marsh’s were trying to make the game into a physical battle, Marks matched this with Dan Hazel and Matt Lucas in the middle of the park and played good football which Marsh could not deal with. On 13 minutes Marks domination paid when Mark Heffernan won a 50 / 50 tackle with the goalkeeper and slotted the ball into the open goal.
Marsh adopted the long ball game which Marks was happy to defend against with Matt Harris and Asa Burton dominating the Marsh strikers. The pitch started to cut up and the game started to become scrappy, but Paul Raymont, Mike Heffernan and Mark Heffernan had a lot of joy against the March back line. The half finished Marks one goal to the good.
In the second half Marsh become more physical but they could not cope with Four Marks ability and game play. Paul Raymont scored Marks’ second when he beat the Marsh right back and slotted the ball past the on coming goalkeeper. Marks started to turn the screw and made it three when Dan Hazel redirect and shot from Andrew King.
Marks brought on Gary Chapman and Michael Bridges to give Marsh more problems. The fourth was not long in coming when Marks carved open the Marsh defence and Andrew King blasted the ball into the roof of the net from six yards. Dan Lucas came on for Marks to seal up the game. Four Marks come away with another three points and kept them selves on top of the table.
