Despite completely outplaying Fleet the young Marks team couldn't break down the staunch Fleet defence, thereby losing their unbeaten start to the season
Marks went behind after ten minutes, failing to get a good tackle in and finding the ball in the net. This spurred the home side on and they laid seige to the Fleet goal but they could not break down their resolute defence until 20 minutes into the second half, when John Chesterman rounded off a fine passing move with a goal.
However, Marks were caught out at the back with three minutes to go by a rare Fleet break, and bad defending allowed the visitors to snatch an undeserved three points.
